iOS 14.5 – Why Not?

Just as with other “point releases“ of Apple’s iOS operating system, I don’t see any problem with upgrading right away.

“Point releases“ (i.e. 14.4 ➡️ 14.5) generally tend to be more reliable and stable than entirely new versions (i.e. 13.0 ➡️ 14.0). Typically, they don’t go crazy in trying to add new features, and are focused instead on fixing bugs in the software that’s already out there.

Having said that, iOS 14.5 does add a couple of new features that are worth getting, mainly the ability to unlock your iPhone while wearing a mask (as long as you have an Apple Watch) – and if you went for the new Apple AirTags the way I did, you will need version 14.5 to be able to use them.
