iOS 14: wait

IOS14 is about to drop

iOS14

It’s that time again – another iPhone operating system release is about to drop from the Apple tree, just as it does this time each year.

My recommendation is that you do not install iOS 14 until the first major point release. That is, I suggest waiting until iOS 14.1 is released (not ios 14.01, which usually drops about 1-2 weeks after a new release).

Over the last several years, initial Apple releases of software have grown quite buggy and are more comparable to the erratic quality of software from Microsoft. Gone are the days when I’d arbitrarily jump into a new software release with both feet. IOS14, in particular, makes many changes to the layout of the screens containing your app icons, and on that basis alone it will probably upset the apple cart in terms of the normal things you do with your phone on a daily basis… in other words, your productivity is bound to drop- at least initially- with the new OS.
