How to get iOS 14 (when your phone isn’t prompting you)
Despite the fact that the iOS 14 launch is today, many phones don’t seem to be realizing that there is an update available and are not showing this in the settings app. To “force“ your phone to check for the update, follow these steps:
1) launch the Settings app
2) tap “general”
3) tap “Software Update”
4) tap “Customize automatic updates”
5) Switch “Download iOS updates“ to OFF
6) Go back to the previous screen or quit the settings app.
7) repeat this process, turning “Download iOS updates“ to ON.
8) Go back to “general”
9) Tap “Software Update” in the phone and it will check again for availability of iOS updates.
That’s it. After kicking your software update settings in this way, chances are the phone will suddenly find the iOS update and give you the option to download and install it. Don’t forget to turn automatic update settings back ON afterwards if you use that.
